Usually when I make nice cream or smoothies, I like to try and fit in as many superfoods as possible. It’s so easy to get your greens in when it is blended up in a tasty treat.
I especially like to hide the taste of spirulina. I used to drink it just mixed in water but I could barely get it down. But a teaspoon of it hidden in a smoothie means you get all of the benefits but none of the taste. If you haven’t tried it, it tastes a bit like fish food smells. Spirulina is algae and it is crazy high in nutrients. For example, it has 400 times more iron than spinach! There are loads of health benefits associated with it and I try to include some in my diet most days.
Matcha is also a superfood that I have been including in my diet most days. It is really high in antioxidants and while it does have caffeine, it doesn’t give you that jitteriness that coffee does. It gives a much calmer energy boost. I’ve been having matcha in hot water but, with spring coming, I’ve been enjoying it in cold smoothies and drinks more.
Anyway, hope you enjoy this recipe. Comment if you try it! Thanks 🙂
